Dream House Days Guide: Beginner guide

Gameplay

In this game you start with 4 apartments, 3 vacant and 1 occupied by your custom made first tenant. Your goal is to create the most comfortable apartment, while making a profit and making tenants happy. You can enter the competition once a year to win prizes and unlock new flooring.

Money, research points and tickets are the currencies in this game. You can earn money from the deposit and the rent collected from the tenant while you can earn research points when your tenant use the furnishings. Tickets can be earned from making friends.

Furnishing

You need to furnish every empty apartment before renting it out. Furnishing raises the rent and the comfort level of your apartment, as well as its seasonal upkeep costs. A higher comfort level allows you to convince better tenants to move in, and also gets you a higher deposit. Small apartments can hold up to 16 furnishings; medium apartments can hold 32; large apartments can hold 64.

Tenants will use their furnishings, producing Research Points and developing specialty or hobby. Furnishings level up to a maximum of level 10 as they are used. Higher level gives the furnishing better stats.

There are only a few types of furnishing in the beginning of the game. New furnishings become available for research when you unlock new jobs or you got it from the lucky draw.

Getting Tenants

Once you are done with the furnishing, you might want to recruit tenants for the empty apartments via the estate agent. There are 3 ways to recruit tenants:

1. post flyers (search over a small area), which costs 5 research points
2. ask local agency (search over a wide area), which costs 35 research points
3. ask top agency (search all over the country), which costs 100 hundred research points.

As your apartment grows and gain fame, it might interested famous people like supermodel, soccer player or more. However, recruiting these famous people is required to spend your tickets.

Relationships

Only adult tenants can fall in love. They will go on blind dates, get love interests and build their relationships with them through dates and parties. Tenants with high charisma tends to have a better relationship and higher chance to succeed in their proposal. You can boost your tenants' relationship with an item called "love scroll".

If your tenant wishes to get married, he or she will request a couple permit which costs about 4 research points. When the apartment has a couple permit, marriage will become possible and your tenant will start to propose to his/her love interest. If your tenant's marriage proposal is successful, his/her love interest will move into their apartment as a "homemaker".

Children

Married tenants may want to have kids. They will request a child permit which costs about 35 research points. Once the permit is given, they will have a baby at the start of next year. The couple can have more than 1 child depends on the apartment they lived. A big apartment allows married couple to have 2 children.

A year later babies turn into toddlers. The next year they turn into children, and eventually become high school students after a year again.  A HS student does all the same things adults can do except fall in love and marry. HS students will then be promoted to students once they passed their entrance exams. When they turn into adults, they will request to move one of your vacant apartments. If your apartments are fully occupied, you can always recruit back them who has moved out by choosing the post flyers option in the recruit tenants menu.

Retiree

An adult retires after 8 years and become a senior with a lower income. Your tenants will move out in the end of the senior phases. If their happiness is high enough, they will give you tickets.

End Game

Once your game reaches the start of Y 21, your current game "ends", but you may play as much as you would like. You can choose to continue the game or start a new game.

After your game ends, you can start a new game, with some benefits carried over from your current game. Carry-overs stack across multiple play through. However, only some features are able to carry over.
