Is Pokemon Go a success or a failure?

It is undoubtedly Pokemon GO has overwhelming popularity since it's first release in Australia. It's setting a new trend over the world and indirectly affecting human lifestyle. However, Pokemon fans are having more disappointment over excitement and satisfaction. So, is Pokemon Go a success or a failure?

1. Slow International Release

From the first released of Pokemon Go till now, it's been almost a month. However, it was only launched in less than 50 countries, including 2 Asian countries like Japan and Hong Kong. Many rumors regarding the "actual" release time have been spreading all over the Internet and giving false hopes to Pokemon fans. As time passes by, people lose their patience, only disappointment and frustration growing in the heart of every Pokemon fan who has been craving for this game since the first release.

Is this the strategy implemented by the developer to keep the Pokemon GO fever up? Or they are just doing their job, according their planned schedule? Or do the server issues defer the original planned release date? No one's knows, but Niantic is really losing a lot of potential players due to this slow international release.

2. Server issue
Due to leaked APK file, the game has been installed by tons of people across the globe ahead of schedule which cause the server overload by the overwhelming response. Many have reported difficulty getting into the app with server error messages preventing logging on and lag plaguing game-play.

I seriously think that Niantic should set up a stable and strong server in the countries before the release of the game. And not release the game first to test the server. Plus, they should release the game internationally at the same time or within a week and not by region. If they do so, they would effectively avoid people from downloading the APK file which cause server overload. Thus, players across the world are unable to enjoy their Pokemon hunting experience to the max.

I think this is not totally the fault of those who downloaded the game illegally. If Niantic has a better game releasing schedule or did a better job, this might not be an issue.

3. A flaw in this game - GPS hack
I am totally a Pokemon fan since I was young. I have always imagined if Pokemon do exist in this world, that would be super awesome. Niantic did a really brilliant job to satisfy my desire and expectation to catch a Pokemon. This is really a good augmented reality game, however, there's a flaw in this game, which is the GPS.

Players can fake their actual location by using some fake GPS apps. And now this game hasn't been launched in some countries, but many people in those countries are already playing Pokemon GO with this GPS spoofing hack, and thus causing server breakdown due to the high demands.

To counter this issue, Niantic has actually taken action to ban those cheaters "softly". Players who were dealt bans for using GPS spoofing hacks could no longer catch Pokemon, collect PokeStops, or battle/claim a gym. However, the ban is only last for minutes to a few hours. This is actually too soft like nothing. Cheaters can actually get back to cheating after a lunch or even after a nap. This is not a big deal at all. However, this proves that Niantic is looking into this issue and try to fix it, which is a good news.

4. Incomplete game
The developer of Pokemon GO stated that is still incomplete and is at about 10% of what they want it to be. And yes, I'm just wondering why don't they complete this game before releasing it, or perhaps updates and new features are what keeps gamers playing it. However, Pokemon GO is losing daily users due to the limited features.

As compared to 3DS/NDS Pokemon game, there is a huge difference in features and completeness of the story line. I know these are two completely different games, but what I'm trying to say is Pokemon GO should have more complete features before the launch to retain users.

5. More Pokemon
Personally, I think they should include more generation instead of the first generation only. I know they are going to include more generation in the following updates.

By most standards, there are a maximum of seven continents - Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Europe, North America, and South America. In Pokemon series, there are also seven generation/region, including the latest version of Pokemon Sun and Moon - the Alola region. Maybe each continent represents each region in Pokemon is a pretty good idea? So, people can really travel around to complete the Pokedex. However, people can use the fake GPS though.

Don't get me wrong. I really like Pokemon. I'm just voicing out my thought regarding this game. What do you guys think?

Thank you.
